The Ice Vending Business

Owning an ice vending machine can be a very rewarding business.  As is true in most things, the better you take care of your business, the better it will take care of you.

Our ice vending machines are greatly refined and highly reliable.  That being said, these are machines and they do need to be maintained.  We have found that operators who are mechanically inclined and “like to get their hands dirty,” do better in this business.

On a typical visit to the machine, most operators can do all they need to do in 20 or 30 minutes.  The area around the machine needs to be cleaned, bags need to be restocked, money should be collected, and the operation of the machine needs to be verified.

Periodically, the operator will do a more extensive cleaning.  This could take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours depending on everything you hope to accomplish.  Some of the items that will need to be addressed are cleaning of the ice maker, sanitation of the ice bin, and a good cleaning of the exterior of the machine.

We tell prospective operators that the hardest thing about this business is just getting it up and running.  Here are some of the steps involved in that process.
